"VICTORY OR DEATH!!"

⸻Battle cry of the Dotharl.

Do not underestimate the power of an enemy, no matter how great or how small, to rise against you another day.

Sohkantani

personality   On the Azim Steppe, the Dotharl tribe are widely known to be one of the most blood-thirsty, unceasingly violent and warlike tribes. sohkatani is a bit of an exception to the rule, with an enthusiastically friendly and cheerful demeanor... though this can change at a moment's notice if she is threatened. make no mistake, it is still Dotharl blood that runs through her veins and while it may be less intense than her tribe-mates, battlelust still simmers in her soul. her passions run deep, whether in love or in war and she doesn't hesitate to fully commit herself to either. boldly speaking her mind with blunt honesty, she relentlessly flays through simpering webs of obfuscation and insinuation, despite the strife it may cause.

  •   hair    black with blue highlights.

  •   scars    two - a gunshot wound on her right shoulder and a four inch vertical slash on her abdomen.

appearance   more often than not, Sohkatani's lips are graced with a bright, welcoming smile, though can twist into an antagonistic sneer should she become involved in a situation with a rival Xaela tribe or other enemy. likewise, her striking blue eyes often reflect warmth and mirth, but can just as easily hold a tempest of fury and passion. she is not one to conceal what she feels, wearing her heart on her sleeve for all to see. her build is lithe and toned, though small for even the women of the xaela. she is not without a certain feminine softness, however. of note, her tail is somewhat longer than that of her kin and the tip of it has been sharpened into a blade-like point.

history

when sohkatani came into the world, the tribe ugdan looked into her eyes and determined that this was her third life, having shined brightly enough in Nhaama's eyes to be reborn yet again to the Dotharl tribe. most memories of her first and second lives elude her, though when she dreamwalks, she is occasionally blessed with visions of the warrior she had been twice before. in the first, she had been cut down during a battle with the Kharlu, when the opposing tribe invaded Dotharl Khaa; in her second life, she was slain by the Oronir during the Naadam.Raised at Dotharl Khaa as a blood-thirsty daughter of the Dotharl tribe, Sohkatani was trained to fight with savagery from the moment she could walk - but it was soon discovered that her true talents lay in the use of communing with and wielding the immense power of the elemental spirits. apprenticed to the tribe ugdan, she learned how to offer appropriate sacrifices to them and the borrow their magic to conquer her tribe's foes. she participated in countless conflicts with a number of other tribes, vanquishing so many that she hardly remembers any of their names.when she was twenty-three, Sohkatani left the Azim Steppe to travel to Thanalan, in search of her brother Dayiir. Afflicted with wanderlust, he had left the ever-warring plains of their home several turns earlier to see more of the world. Locating him in Ul'dah, the siblings remained together for a time, but it was not long until dayiir decided ultimately to return home - to his ill-fortune. shortly after arriving, he was brutally murdered by a band of roving Chaghan. Mad with fury and grief, Sohkatani donned warpaint and took a band of those closest to her back to the Steppe to avenge his death. Bloody retribution was had... but this only kicked off a war between the Chaghan tribe and Sohkatani and her allies. Wave after wave of Chaghan were sent to Eorzea to slay the shaman, but they were, to the last, defeated. This culminated in one final, vicious battle against a cruel and seemingly unstoppable Chaghan warlord, but when the blood-soaked field finally fell quiet, it was Sohkatani and her comrades who stood the victors. Still, she has never forgotten the multiple skirmishes and to this day, she bears a deep and unforgiving hatred for the tribe that nearly claimed her life.Returning to Thanalan, Sohkatani has claimed the desert region as her home, for now, building a yurt not far from Blackbrush Station, in a relatively tranquil valley. Being raised in a society to which honest trading and bartering was the method of obtaining essentials, she despises the nigh-worship of gil that is present in the city, but thankfully, due to her hunting and fishing prowess, she is largely self-sufficient. She can often be seen in Ul'dah, however, socializing or offering whetstones and arrowheads for sale or trade, for the few essentials she cannot obtain for herself.

Bonds

Altan of the Angura

Mate

Aggressive, demanding and possessive, Altan commands complete devotion from Sohkatani while he is in her presence - a devotion that she gives willingly and eagerly. Altan unrelentingly takes what he wants from her, but this does not mean he does not respect her. To the contrary, it was he that bestowed the nickname 'Little Baras' to her, after the enormous and fierce warcat that fights alongside her in the Azim Steppe. It was from Altan's seed that Sohkatani bore her first (and thus far only) child, Saikhantamir.

Ganzorig of the Avagnar

Mate

Tender-hearted and doting, Ganzorig could not be more different than his twin brother Altan. Sweet and adoring, he spoils Sohkatani rotten, gifting her with clothing and other small but thoughtful items, making her meals and lavishing attention on her in both public and private. Holding a cherished place in her heart, the tiny shaman would destroy anyone who dared harm him.

Khel of the Dotharl/Ugund

Mate

A chance meeting in the Ossuary brought Sohkatani face to face with a hauntingly beautiful Xaela that she had never met before, but immediately recognized. A flood of memory washed over her in those moments, revealing that Khel had been her mate in her second life, and had watched her die to the spears of the Oronir moments before his own death. Quiet and careful, the love they bear is held sacred to Sohkatani.
